The chateau park in Čechy pod Kosířem, situated on the area of 21,5 ha is one of the most valuable historical parks in Moravia due to its aesthetical and dendrological qualities.

The renovation of the original Baroque garden to an English park began in the 1830´s. It was iniciated by Count Franz Josef I. Lothar Silva-Tarouca. Between the period 1839-1846 his son - count Erwein altered the chateau in the Classical style according to a project of Julius Eduard Zernecke. The chateau was connected with the park through a wide stairway and some small buildings were built there: a pavillon in Classical style (1840-1843), today called "Mánesův", a neo-Gothic outlook tower or an orangery in the same style designed by architect Ignác Ullmann (1852-1853).

Below the impressive scenery of the hill Kosíř an unusual landscape composition with beautifully disposed groups of domestic as well as exotic wood species were gradually formed. The significant composition component of these area are two ponds, interconnected through a water canal. In the last third of the 19th century the park scene was significantly affected by Count Franz Josef II. Silva -Tarouca, who was fond of dendrology. His younger brother Ernst Emanuel formed an inimitable scene of the chateau park in Průhonice.

A natural landscape park in a romantic style surrounds the building of a Classical chateau, which originated from a reconstruction of an older Baroque building. The chateau garden in the Baroque style with pathways seems to have existed in Čechy pod Kosířem already at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1768 the estate with the chateau was bought by originally Portugese house of Silva-Tarouca. Famous Czech painter Josef Mánes was a friend of this art loving family and used to visit regularly this chateau between the period 1849-1871.
