Mladeč Caves

The Mladeč Caves are situated in the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area. They rank among the archaeological localities of world importance.

They are quite probably the oldest, largest and most northern site of modern people (Cro-Magnon) in Europe, who have been shown to have lived there more than 31,000 years ago. The caves present a very irregular labyrinth of corridors and chambers and tall chimneys with remarkably-shaped walls and ceilings, with stalactites and many block cave-ins and several steep corridors.
