The Black Tower in Drahanovice is a unique monument of the building activities of the lower aristocracy in Central Moravia.
The oldest written reference to this originally Gothic citadel dates back to 1351. An extensive redevelopment was carried out during the Renaissance period - the character of the tower was changed from a defence to a residential function, the tower façade was decorated with black and white sgraffito. At present the Black Tower houses a permanent exhibition of the Olomouc Museum of History and Nature, documenting the archaeology and history of the village and its surroundings. The upper floor serves as a small gallery.
